Now in post-production. The film is based on a true story about a young woman with cocaine psychosis that have delusion of being an actress as Nina in the Anton Chekhov play “The Seagull“.
” It has been a great opportunity to play this role, and to able to discover and deepens into Chekhov’s characters as in my own reality. The film is being directed in a very free and open minded atmosphere, that gives us the actors the possibility of let go and be very spontaneous to sudden changes of our own psychological behavior, relations or reactions to each scene and how we engage into the unexpected turn of scenes.” – Anna Polupanova ( Nina)
A delusion might be an attempt at explaining a hallucinatory experience.
Delusions are significant precisely because they make sense for the believer and are held to be evidentially true, often making them resistant to change.
” The idea of addiction – paranoia induced delusion related to a classical play was basically the motivation for me to write the script based on the real story. I met with some of the people that knew the real Nina and they were very helpful to draft the final story line. I’m very lucky to have such a talented group of artists together. Their trust in our project and how they put their heart into the story itself. Their commitment to the long filming hours no matter the weather conditions or place. The film have lot of characters similar to those in the A.Chekhov play but in the film they come in and out of the reality to be themselves or be as Nina sees them in her delusion.– Eddy Rivera
